Binirica 2023! A new launch into the beauty of the Cilento landscape is anticipated on July 28, 2023, in the evocative setting of the village of Pisciotta.
A visionary adventure that will bode well for art and its intersections. A new edition of the short film festival, curated by Francesco De Falco, Michela Mancusi, and Saverio Pesapane, which allows expression through the screening of seven short film works, multiple award-winners at the best international film festivals, showcasing the value of cinema, its enduring presence in the collective imagination, and potential projections and connections with the contemporary.
The selected works are as follows:
- “The Delay” by Mattia Napoli;
- “Dependent Variables” by Lorenzo Tardella;
- “Cicciolina Pocket” by Claudio Casazza;
- “The Conspiracy Barber” by Valerio Ferrara;
- “Caramelle” by Matteo Panebarco;
- “Three Times a Week” by Emanuele Vicorito;
- “Tomorrow, Who Knows, Maybe” by Chiara Rigione.
Diverse in genre and directorial style, from fiction to animated cinema, the showcased films share an Italian authorial signature and a fresh, original insight into the present.
In addition to cinema, there’s an event for the youngest with “La Festa del Colore,” curated by Maestro Giovanni Spiniello, who will transform paintings into drops of poetry together with the children. There’s also room for photography with the exhibition “Corda Pazza,” curated by Nicole Maglio, which collects photographic shots by Paola Porciello, Nicole Maglio, and Anita Bruno, inspired by the previous edition of Binirica and in the footsteps of Letizia Battaglia.
Life becomes poetry when it synchronizes its beats with the breath of art, the voice of the sea, and the call of the illuminated darkness by cinema. What happens when cinema meets the sea? Let’s discover it together in Pisciotta, in the fluctuating blue of the Cilento night, elevated by the voices and gazes of authors, directors, and artists.
We turn our gaze towards a new horizon of freedom, boundless, because the only possible boundary for Binirica is where our dreams arrive.
